Ella lounged on the lawn, enjoying the feeling of the sun on her face. Sure it was December, but did that mean she would stay inside? Heck no. Ella was barely even bundled up. She had on a thick sweatshirt and a scarf, but that was about all that was protecting her from the bitter wind. Regardless, she smiled, enjoying all of it. She loved being outside. It’d be even better if she could take off her shoes and dig her toes into the ground, but she wasn’t that stupid.
She shoved her headphones into her ears better and turned up her music. Ella began to hum the melody along with the song, and then began to belt out the lyrics. She didn’t really care if anyone could hear her. Ella was told she had a nice singing voice, but she didn’t really care whether or not it sounded good. She sang for her own enjoyment and not for anyone else’s.
A gust of wind shot across the lawn, playing with Ella’s scarf and her dark hair. She closed her eyes and leaned back into the wind, liking the feel of it as it caressed her face. Ella felt like she could stay like this forever.

vanity is just a myth Vanna was really beginning to become even more bored in her dorm room by the second. She tried to keep herself occupied by attending to her hair and make up needs, but perfection could only go so far. She was still curling her hair and with every finished curl hitting against her back skin causing her to cringe slightly from the slight burning sensation it left as it cooled. Vanna normally curled her hair daily, though she hadn't done it for a few days since she was becoming rather lazy she decided to change it up a bit. Finally finished with her hair, vanna reapplied her cherry red lip gloss and winked at her reflection.
She wasn't completely vain, though she did have her moments where she basked in the glory that was her own and found herself in a sort of vain mood for the day. Today wasn't any different, but she knew she would have to tone it down due to the start of the new year and making a great impression on the new students was one thing she wanted to do. She'd wait to show her true colors after the holiday break. Wearing her favorite red/white dress and accessories she made her way down toward the lawn of the school to try and soak up a few rays before the next lesson. There weren't many out and the only thing she could really hear was the singing of one of the female students coming from the center of the lawn.
Of course because of her loud voice there were students staring at her, eyes which should be on Vanna of course. So doing the only thing she could to get a few glances she made her way down toward the girl and sat next to her. Vanna waited for a moment for the girl to notice she was there and taped on her arm, just to give her a small hint of her presence. "Uh, hi," said Vanna after the girl quieted down and removed her head phones. She had never really done something like this before; approached someone on her own, it just wasn't in character for her.

Ella stared up at the girl, not entirely sure why this girl was talking to her. She continued to stare, but the girl didn’t really react, so Ella put on of her ear buds back into place, the volume blaring. “I’d offer you a seat, but I don’t think you’d want to get your skirt covered in grass stains.” Ella offered, wanting to use her response as a way to gauge this girl’s personality. See, the girl reminded her too much of her sister. It wasn’t looks, although both were extremely beautiful. No, it was the way they both stood.
Ella began to pluck at the grass. She didn’t pull any out of the ground though; that would be destroying nature, which was against Ella’s beliefs. Instead, she ran her hands through it like someone might run their hands through hair or a pet’s fur. However, she began to get bored with that and fingered her scarf. While Ella waited for the girl to talk, she hummed.
She thought she knew the girl from somewhere. They had probably both gone to Dartmouth Academy since freshman year, but Ella rarely paid attention to people unless they were important to her. She didn’t even know half the names of the people in her graduating class. That was a side effect of not trusting people enough to get to know them.
